Planning and Progress Tools

The OLS gives you access to all of your student’s lessons and provides all the scheduling and assessment tools you need to get the most from your student’s K12 education. Planning, progress, and attendance tools will help you set up a schedule, generate lesson plans for each student, check that students are progressing at the pace that is right for them, and track the time students spend on each subject.

OLS Home

When you first log in, you will arrive at the OLS Home screen, which provides direct access to lessons and tools for each of your students. To get started, choose a student from the list on the left side of the screen. This brings up the Lesson Shortcuts and Planning & Progress tools you’ll need to teach that student. (You can see this information for another student by clicking on that student’s name on the left.)

Lesson Shortcuts provide you with direct access to the next scheduled lesson for each course your student is enrolled in. The courses that are scheduled to be taught today have a sun in the “Today” column.  Clicking on a course will bring you to the next lesson for that course.

The home page links to these helpful OLS tools:

  • Schedule Set-Up: Provides a process for creating a weekly teaching schedule for each student. Throughout the year, you may adjust the schedule whenever you choose.

  • Plan: Provides a schedule of lessons and a list of materials for a day or a week.

  • Lesson Lists: Provides all of the lessons and assessments for each course and the ability to select a novel for instruction (for those units that require it).

  • Progress: Provides both a general overview and a detailed view of the student’s progress through the curriculum.

  • Attendance: A place to keep track of the time spent on the lessons.

  • Advance Preparation: Provides a list of lessons that requires extra preparation time as well as the details necessary to prepare for these lessons.

The OLS Home also includes features to:

  • My Account: The My Account link will take you to a pop-up window where you can review and change your user name and password.  In the future this area will also include account information such as materials tracking numbers and enrollment status

  • Announcements: Announcements will be displayed on the OLS Home page.  Announcements cover will include notification of system outages, customer care notification as well as announcements from the school administrators.

  • New Log-in: The New Log-in link will open a new K12 Online School Log-in screen.  Use this feature if you are teaching multiple children at one time and would like to have multiple windows of the Online School open and switch between students.

The OLS looks slightly different depending on whether you logged in as the adult or the student (see Student Tools). To give a student access to the student area, click the "My Account" link on OLS Home screen, then give the student a user name and password.
